The Stichting Contractspelersfonds KNVB, to give the CFK fund its official title, is the administrator of the bridging pension scheme for professional footballers.
This scheme, set up in 1972, provides a tax efficient system for players to set aside funds for the period after their football career has ended. Today the scheme has some 2,000 members, with around half currently receiving monthly bridging pension payments.
Administering the scheme involves a number of processes: collection, accounting, investment and disbursement of premiums. Good communication between the fund and its members has high priority at CFK.
At the request of the social partners in Dutch football (trade unions VVCS and ProProf, football managers’ organisation CBV and the federation of professional football organisations FBO) CFK also helps run the old age pension scheme for active professional footballers (Pensioenregeling Betaald Voetbal) and the pension scheme for trainers.
CFK furthermore administers a bridging pension scheme for the Netherlands professional cyclists’ fund NWF (Stichting Nederlands Wielrenners Fonds). This scheme for cyclists is virtually identical to the professional football bridging pension scheme.
CFK falls under the supervision of financial markets regulator AFM (Autoriteit Financiële Markten) and is licensed in accordance with Article 2:65 (1) (b) of the Netherlands Financial Regulation Act (Wet op het Financieel Toezicht).
