Financial security after
the sports career
CFK Foundation
Since 1972, the CFK has been implementing the bridging scheme for professional footballers who are or have been active in the Honours or First Division. Since 2016, the CFK also handles the bridging scheme for professional cyclists with a Dutch licence.
Through financial bridging and expert support, the CFK's mission is to help professional footballers and professional cyclists (m/f) responsibly take the step into a new social career after their sports career ends.
The CFK is supervised by the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) and holds a licence as a manager of investment institutions, pursuant to Article 2:65, under a of the Financial Supervision Act (Wft).
Our participants
The CFK has over 2,700 participants. Some of these are active professional footballers or professional cyclists. Another part of the participants have since ended their professional careers and receive monthly bridging benefits from the CFK.
All contract players (m) who play in the Premier or First Division and are therefore covered by the Collective Labour Agreement for Professional Football participate in the scheme. This also applies to contract players (v) who play in Eredivisie Women.
For professional cyclists, they participate in the scheme if they have a Dutch licence and the cycling team is liable to pay income tax in the Netherlands.
Our organisation
The CFK is an independent Foundation with an independent, professional board. The board is responsible for the (investment) policy and functioning of the Foundation.
The Foundation also has a Supervisory Board. This board consists of delegations from both employees and employers and oversees the policies and general affairs of the Foundation.
An important part of the organisation is the Participants' Council. It includes both players (3) who are still active and players (2) who are now receiving bridging benefits. One seat on the Participants' Council is filled by a cyclist. The Participants' Council meets several times a year and advises the board on, among other things, investment policy, scheme adjustments, the budget, the annual accounts and any amendments to the statutes.
The CFK also has an investment committee. This committee advises the board on issues affecting investment policy.
